Improving and Managing the Student Leadership Characters in Facing the Challenges in Petroleum Industry

PREFACE
Leadership includes the process of influence in determining the goals of the organization, motivating followers to achieve the goals of behavior, influence to improve the group and its culture. Leadership has a close relationship with motivation. This can be seen from the success of a leader in mobilizing others in achieving those objectives is dependent upon authority, and also led them in creating motivation in everyone subordinates, colleagues, and superiors leadership itself.
Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen. leadership is about capacity: the capacity of leaders to listen and observe, to use their expertise as a starting point to encourage dialogue between all levels of decision-making, to establish processes and transparency in decision-making, to articulate their own values and visions clearly but not impose them. Leadership is about setting and not just reacting to agendas, identifying problems, and initiating change that makes for substantial improvement rather than managing change.
Character of student leadership is not a matter that will arise suddenly, but there must be a process of build and experience so much so that it can form a strong and intact. The character of a leader in leading an organization in important, it is something essential for a leader, if a leader does not have a strong character in leading an organization, it can be ascertained that organization will not go forward and achieve the desired objectives. Therefore, it is very important in building and creating a character of good leadership, which can be a base for the students in leading an organization, managing and developing the organization so that the programs will be implemented will be running smoothly, by generating innovations and new creations in the program is implemented. Strong leadership characters within a student will help them when it has plunged into the petroleum industry, when a student has a strong character in him, he will have more value, and will have a big chance to develop their capabilities and managing work well. The conclusion of creating and building a character of leadership is very important for students, as their capability to face major challenges that exist in the petroleum industry.
